EPO confirms NIKE patent revocation

According to the decision of the European Patent Office, two of the world’s largest sports clothing and footwear manufacturers, Adidas and Nike, have closed their lawsuit, resulting in the Nike patent being revoked.

According to the lawsuit, both companies produce shirts made from a breathable fabric, and the cause of the dispute is the device invented to measure air permeability. In particular, Adidas argued that they have been using the device that Nike has filed for a patent application for many years. Since Nike was unable to sufficiently prove the difference of its device from the device already protected by Adidas, the patent was revoked.
